FEATURES OF THE FIN WHALE:

* Balaenoptera means "winged whale, physalus means "bellows"
* The Fin Whale gets it name from the fin on it's back near the tail.
* The Fin Whale is the 2nd largest animals in size and weight after the blue whale.
In the Southern Hemisphere - Females reach up to 85 feet in length, and males 82 feet in length.
In the Northern Hemisphere - Females reach up to 74 feet in length, and males 69 feet in length.
Adult Fin Whales weigh between 80,000 and 160,000 pounds.
The coloring of a fin whale is unique. The bodies are light grey to brownish black on their back and sides, but their bellies are white.
The unique feature is the lower jaw - each side is different.
